MUET Speaking Practice (20th April 2009)

Monday Monday Monday...

Well.. People says Monday blues,

Means we're not at the top of our spirits on that day.

Well sometimes yes for me because

To go to school after the weekend break

Classes until 3.30pm

and the other gets to go home at 1pm

worse is I had stomach discomfort at college.

Well.. just some of my useless rants...

The point is today we had Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Speaking practice.

The question was.

What quality would you look for in a life-partner.

For task A, the individual presentation,

Khin Yew, being candidate A, had to talk about Race and Religion,

Sam Yew, being candidate B got the point Employment

Me, being candidate C got Same Interest and Goals

Alex being candidate D got Family Background and Upbringing.

Surprisingly, even with frequent practice, we did not do as well as other session.

According to our teacher, Miss Jeswynna, its a topic which we did not thought much about

and surprisingly the girl groups did better than the guys.

my question is

Does the girls think more about finding their right life-partner that they can do this topic better?

Do girls think more about families?

Are guys really that insensitive to this issue?

and one more question

Is a soul-mate more intimate to a person than his or her life-partner?

Questions which pops out in my head

and

I'm lazy to answer them myself.

Definitely not my most enjoyable trip

In fact I hardly enjoy this trip.

Why?

Maybe because I had lack of sleep. I slept at 3am the day before

The feeling of walking barefoot on soil and grass

Walking around under the direct hot sun

Definitely not the type of trip that I enjoy

The farm was not as I expected it would be

I was feeling moody that day (you know la not enough sleep)

I'm sorry

to Tee Kah Meng who put all her effort in organizing this trip.

it was definitely a successful trip

its just my problem only.

But every outing with my friends, no matter enjoyable or vice versa,

Taking photos is a must for me.

Because a picture speaks a thousand words

and

Precious photos are like compliment to my memory of the time spent together with my friends

It was the last day of our Mid-Course Examination

Last Paper ended at 10.30am.

Yay! Hooray! Exams over

Stress is gone

and

we now need to vent all the frustration

and

Tension built up during the whole exam week

So we went to Times Square.

Journey there was fun.

A joyride...

We split up at Times Square as Suh Kuan and others

wanna watch a movie which I didn't wanna watch

I'd rather watch the Fast and the Furious 4

than Shinjuku Incident

I, Sam Yew and Mao went to arcade to kill the time

cuz our Karaoke session is at 1.00pm.

First game, basketball.Ready, Get Set, Throw!!!Next game House of Dead 4. The game uses a replica of an SMG, a Skorpion i think??They look like they're reloading, Hands pushing up a bullet megazine. Full of concentration. A shot full of naturalism.Shake! Shake! and Shake! You actually need to sake the gun to reload. Very Tiring.3rd game, Dancing!! I dunno cats can dance... go for it meow!!!Sam's turn I like this shot.Mao, looking on. She's so pretty. Wanna be my model?Beware, Sam Yew the Dracula.Peace! Looking forward to good sleep

the worst thing is

we need to attend classes tomorrow!

surely damn tired...

p/s: I croped the picture at highest compression ratio and the picture looks rather bad. sorry for that. i underestimated the compression ratio. Pic were crystal clear and there were alot of motion blur as the subject were moving but slower shutter speed were used with a tripod. i have to thank Steven for lending me his tripod.

Finally The Mid-Course is Over!

only one month away

with not much time to relax and spare

Mid-course is just a week away,

One weeks after the 1 week school break

The race is to complete revision on all AS-Level syllabus

and

1st and a portion of 2nd semester's Further Mathematics syllabus

before the start of Mid-course examinations

So of course with 1 week left,

Is to intensify all revision,

to gear up before examination,

Because we cooked pasta, made salad and ate cake at Sam Yew's house.

The three of us, Sam Yew, Kai Yunn and Me.

Two Guys and One Gal

In the kitchen preparing lunch,

isn't hard to imagine isn't it?

We started at 11.30am when both Kai Yunn and I reached Sam's house

That is where the fun begins.

We began with preparing Salad first.

Work started I wonder what were they doing? cuz part of the picture was blocked out.My first assignment, To coat the chicken meat with biscuit crumbs. Easy task actually :)

And its time to begin frying the bacon and sausages, Kai Yunn was very enthusiatic

Kai Yunn: I wanna do it. I wanna fry the bacons and the sausages!Kai Yunn now showing her skills in frying.Flipping over the baconsIs not as easy as you thinkFirst round finished, more to go.Round 2 begin!Some oil splashed onto Kai Yunn, it was quite painful but its frying after all.
She's doing very well actually.The pasta's ready and time to cool it down so that we can separate the strips of fettuccine fused together.Now to prepare the salad Kai Yunn cutting the lettuce.and.once again, Sam intervening.Since the fetuccine is cooked now to prepare the pasta sauce.Sam Yew, adding Mozarella cheese into it
Half the packet already went into the sauce.
Delicious cheese carbonara mushroom sauce, Yummy!Kai Yunn now onto her next stage on preparing salad, cutting apples.she wants it in cube shape where width=height=length thats why she's being so meticulous hehe..

although he might had forgotten how to play but he managed to play some tunes out.

then we head down to play the Wii

and ate the Cake lastly.

So that marks the end of our day together,

Cold start

Woke up to a cold start again

Because it rained early in the morning.

AGAIN,

very unusual.

Getting out of bed was hard

because everywhere is cold

The air is cold and damp

The floor is cold

The water is cold

It was very hard to leave the warmth under my blanket

and enter a hostile environment.

Losing heat to reach thermal equilibrium.

I'd rather lie on my bed.

It was a sunny afternoon

Golden yellow rays of sunlight seeps past my window curtain

Bright and Beautiful...

A plain day.

Spent most of the time studying..

The Egg Cake (14th March 2009)

It was just the start of the Holidays and My Mum, Lil bro and I had some free time to spare

So we decided to bake a cake.

I am not sure whether to use the word bake because we actually tried steaming the cake.

So here the whole process.

I'm not writing a recipe but just recalling what the 3 of us did during the whole process. X-D

The Ingredients.

Flour, Eggs and Castor Sugar ONLY

Amount

Depends on How much you want to bake

BUT

All three ingredients must be in EQUAL PROPORTIONS

ADJUST

The amount of flour if you for hardness and texture

The amount of sugar to control its sweetness.

THE PROCESS

FIRST: Crack all the eggs you have into a bowl and add sugarTHEN: Mix them until the sugar and egg is evenly mixedMixing in progress.Camera flash used. With faster shutter speed the rotating mixer can be captured clearly...

NEXT: Add Flour and continue to mix until everything is evenly mixed

LATER: Grease the baking pan and pour the batter into it

FINALLY: STEAM yeah I really meant STEAM the batter for 30 minutes.

And after 30 minutes...

Tada....

Steamed Egg Cake...

but it looks bit weird

dunno why its so "mountainous"

My hypothesis is might be due to uneven heating. Any ideas?

Honestly, although the cake didn't looked well but I was quite tasty

You you can't judge a book by its cover

Sweet and has Egg taste(duh, cuz there's only sugar and egg in it)

Firm and moist

Although some people may consider it hard

But for a first timer should be okay "gua"? haha

The best part was it involved few types of ingredient, simple step and easy to clean up.

Best served chilled...

Anyone with culinary skills please comments

Especially Sam Yew and Kai Yunn.. I'll be waiting for your critics.

A fresh new look

I took some time to customize my blog further as I am not satisfy with my current skin

Why?

because its not attractive enough and the text were hard to read.

Creating a new look for my blog wasn't easy as I had to skim through a barrage of blog skins to find the one which I am satisfied with.

Honestly it was finding a needle in a haystack for the skin that matches my requirement perfectly.

I noticed there are two type of skins one is the plain Jane with a cool background and another type which you can navigate through.

After awhile skimming through I finally found 2 which I was satisfied with. So which one should I choose?

I was spoilt between a Yuna Ito skin and this Zack Fair from FF VII ~Crisis Core~ skin but I choose the latter because it had navigation feature.

Okay Skin chosen now I need to customize it...

Get back the C-box, edit my profile, links, calender, events and introduction was tedious also as I need to work out with the HTML template.

But after hardwork in front of my PC finally got my blog up with a new look!

Pan Mee gang + mOsEs + Wei Yang outing (13th March 2009)

The day started like any normal day developed with a small twist and finally ended with a much needed night sleep.

The morning started as I wake up at 5.50am everyday and prep myself for college and start driving to college at 6.30am.

That morning is a little different as it was raining all the way which is peculiar because it is less likely to rain in the morning

Anyway driving in the rain to the college is not easy as visibility is always reduced and the traffic is always reduced to a snarl.

Anyway I manage to reach my destination safely where I always rendezvous with the "Pan Mee" gang to have our breakfast at the coffee shop we patronize.

Amid the rain classes were conducted as usual but the funny thing was Kar Hoe whose mood was affected by the rain couldn't concentrate on his studies on that day

After classes it was our usual squash day where we went to play squash from 1pm to 4pm

It was fun as used my own racquet and it felt great using it

Now after 4pm is where more fun entails

I was lucky to have brought my Nikon L4 camera which is a great camera to do candid shots

With two primary mode I used

1) 4 megapixel mode with controlled exposure value, flash settings and best shot selector feature I can take best quality picture I can get from this camera without much motion blur, artificial lighting

2) 2 Megapixel mode with its fastest shutter speed it can choose, with lower exposure value, burst mode with 3 shots per shutter release and under good lighting condition

I can get the best out of my camera when taking candid shots hehe...

As usual we go to Alpha Angle to fill our tummy this time we ate at McD cuz we wanna something which is more filling to our tummy.

Then we decided to go shopping

The first shop we stopped by, Sam Yew tired a shirt like jacket This is what I meant by "shirt like jacket"Sam Yew: Dear, How does this shirt look on me?
Kai Yunn: Lets see, let me adjust it a bit first ya... Not bad lar dear..Chung Yang: Chris, why do take my picture?

Chris: No idea... Maybe we should go for Tutorial?Teacher: Okay students I need a volunteer but must be a girl.

After that we headed to the supermarket, quickly grab what we needed and headed home.

I reached home at 10pm and ate my supper.

Was super exhausted at that time. And I wasted no time to find my bed and called it a nite

Super Squash Session (12th March 2009)

Squash from 1pm to 4pm

Seriously

It is some workout,

The first time I played squash and felt my arm not exhausted

because I used my new Prince TF series squash racquet

The Prince claimed the racquet is design to provide stability and control to your swing

So that you can have more control of the ball and the game

and

It lived up to its manufacturer's claim

A good racquet

I enjoyed the game today.

Looking forward for tomorrow's game...

We were at college when it was raining.

I was feeling tired and,

I still need to drive home...

In the rain...

Visibility was poor,

Cars light was shining everywhere,

Traffic congestion,

Moreover fuel was low...

I was worried I couldn't make it back home before fuel runs out

I had not enough cash with me

No credit card or debit card

So I couldn't buy fuel also

if fuel runs out

Luckily Suh Kuan and Sam Yew were there,

Both of them forked out RM10

to buy fuel for me

to give my car the extra push

so that it can run the extra mile

Thank you guys,

Not only you gave my car the much needed boost,

We were together supporting each other as well,

Time, Time, Time...

Time and tide waits for no man...

True enough... Everyone does to a certain extend faces the pinch of having not enough time.

Is really time that limited to us? Well mathematically, we have 24 hours a day and back in those days where our ancestors used to live in caves and all they need to worry about is hunting for food, search for water and keep themselves safe, 24 hours is practically enough for them but we can't be so sure because we're just assuming and not being into their shoes.

However, living in this demanding modern society where humans have plenty to worry about. Work, School, College, University, Money, Entertainment, Studies, Assignments, Projects and just about anything that we in a modern society needs to worry about will find 24 hours insufficient even with reduced sleeping period or even without sleep.

With limitation of the amount of time. Its very tempting most of us will use it as an excuse for the 1001 things that we failed to: comply or meet the deadline or fulfill a promise or whatever we may fail to do within the time.

Pursuing the very cruel time which does not stop, does not look back, which sweeps everything away as it passes on, without a single mercy of what it does is indeed a difficult task. Even I thinks it is very difficult to keep up the pace with time.

To speaking frankly, is there anything that is beneficial to us that we humans would think is ever enough? Have a look, our natural resources are never enough, money is never enough for most individuals, time is also not excluded. Why? Because there is an infinite possibilities that each of us can use that certain resources such as money and time and this is a reason why we should exercise prudence of managing whatever resources which we think extremely limited to us.

Which is also why we have so many thing to manage moreover we have to have top management skills of what we plan to manage and what i think is paramount is Time Management.

Because we have so many things we wanna do but yet having so little time to do them all.

I admit..

I don't have excellent time management skills but its not that I totally suck at it.

Why? because I too feel that time is not enough.

Yes not enough time to update my blog. About the recent events that had occurred in the past few days of my life.

On the 27th of February 2009, Sam Yew, Kai Yunn, Chung Yang, and a whole gang of their friends of SN9C and SN9B played squash together. We had our worked out till 4.30 pm until we (Sam Yew, Kai Yunn, Chung Yang and I) decided to head to the nearest mall to our college to hang out and have something to eat. Out of my suggestion which is also my desire, we ate at Secret Recipe in Alpha Angle Jusco. We enjoyed the cake, and each other's company as we chat about many things, joked about many things as well. Later, we hit the arcade where Sam Yew tries a few round of the "arm" dancing machine. Basically we need to swing your arm at the correct direction and timing to play that game. He failed to persuade Kai Yunn to play and we played something else. The table hockey or sometimes known as air hockey, where

1st round Sam vs Chung Yang ----> Chung Yang won
2nd round Me vs Kai Yunn ----> I won (16 vs 14) yeahh.. haha (I only remembered my score) :)
3rd round Chung Yang vs Me, Sam, Yunn ----> we won against Chung Yang by a small margin (14 vs 15) not bad for Chung Yang who went against the three of us.

Finally we had a game of basketball and left for home where Sam complained of stomach spasm in my car on our way back.

The next day 28th February 2009, we went to a trip to FRIM. (Forrest Research Institute Malaysia). Our gang consist of Me, Sam Yew, Kai Yunn, Kai Qing, Moses Hon and Khin Yew. We were there to hike to the canopy walk at 1000ft above sea level and for jungle trekking as well.

We gathered at college at 8.00 am in which I, Sam and Kai Yunn were nearly left by the party because we reached right on time. Apparently we had our breakfast at Wangsa Maju with our usual pan mee stall that we patronise but this time with a twist as Sam's dad came to dine with us. It was fun chatting there till we nearly forgot the time.

At FRIM we took a large quantity of pictures (which I have yet to edit) so I'm not going to upload any yet but I shall do it soon when I have the time. The trek wasn't as hard as I expected but hiking 1000ft above sea level is indeed physical demanding as we converted our Kinetic Energy into Gravitational Potential Energy. We finished at about 12.30pm and returned to our college at 1.00pm where Kai Yunn said she wanted to watch the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So we headed to my house to have a shower and to change, Kai Yunn borrowed my shirt as she did not bring anything to wear that time. Before that we hanged around at college for awhile and that is where something I did not anticipate happend. Which Kai Yunn drove my car under the instruction of Kai Qing. OMG. I couldn't imagine that till I screamed out of shock and Sam was laughing all the way. A good one.

We had rojak and cendol bought on our way home to my house. It wasn't tasty but enought to fill us up. Journey back from college wasn't pleasant as a long stretch of the MRR2 was congested. We bath and get ready for the next round of fun at Times Square.

We rushed hoping to hit the mall before 4.10pm to make it for the show but due to the journey against the traffic and against time, we reached at 4.15pm and make it to the cinema only to know that there is only 1st row left for the movie. So we had watch another movie but not at GSC cuz the cue is too long. So we headed to 10th floor of Times Square to watch The Punisher at IMAX. We didn't regret watching that movie as it was really a cool movie. A good one packed with action and gun fights. It is a movie with a simple plot but manage to pack a punch with its stunts and fighting scenes. Good one.

After the brilliant movie. we headed for dinner and at the lastly to the arcade where we played Basketball just to compete with each other. Sam won against Kai Yunn. I won against her too in the last game. hehe. Took some pics and left times square with a payment of a RM10 parking fees.

The last round of fun was when we sent Kai Yunn home. She told us not to stop right in front of her house as she does not want her grandma know that 2 guys had given her a ride home. but yet out of our mischief we decided to stop right infront of her house and loudly said goodbye to her and said hi to her grandma. Luckily Sam did not sounded my car's honk. Lol.. sorry Kai Yunn.. thats our mischievious behaviour. hahahahaha.

We reached home at appoximately 10pm with weak biological batteries and load of photograph to edit and a blog to upload those photos which I have not done yet. Is the series of events that had happend those few days. Hopefully sometime soon I shall posts those pics up after I have edited it.

More and More Active...

I seriously dunno what's got into us lately but my best friend, Sam Yew and I are becoming more active. We play Squash and go to the Gym more often... Well I suppose that is a good thing after all.. hehe..

Today's not quite my day.. its rather a mixed in fact... As if all emotions were converging onto me.

Out of the norm was we went to Alpha Angle because we didn't had 2 hours of break as we didn't have our chemistry lecture and is followed by lunch... We went there mainly to kill our time and it was quite nice spending our time there..

We got our Further Math paper back and it as I expected just average results.. (need to work harder and harder)

The worst when we were at the practicals.. I aimed to finish the experiment quickly as possible After all we need to train for the AS-Level examinations... Several problems appeared hampered my expectation to finish early.. First the handouts for the practical wasn't enough.. So I had to sacrifice mine for my classmates.. without my own paper I still had to do the experiment. Then I couldn't perform the experiment as I made one.. ONLY ONE simple mistake on the wiring connection and my experiment failed..

It took me almost an hour later to find the mistake and I was truly frustrated.. And at the end I was very angry for myself for the mistake.. If it was an actual exam I would surely be screwed up! Ohh damn.. I was too angry and It Happened again...

I lost my temper and it showed.. I wasn't angry at anyone but myself for making that simple mistake.. So I'm sorry Kar Hoe, Sam Yew and even Kai Yunn if any of you felt offended by the way I reacted I really lost it..

Squash is indeed my favorite sports for me from now onwards.. I can really relieve my stress by just using all my might and hit the ball against the wall..

Thanks, Sam Yew and Kai Yunn and Kar Hoe for understanding.. I am trying my best not to lose myself again.. Indeed I still have a far way to master the virtue of being patient and staying calm...

Valentines Day, Yesterday

Happy Valentine Day to all my friends, family and to everyone I know...

Originally is a day for people to celebrate with his or her valentine thus deepening and strengthening their romantic relationship.

However many are interpreting it in a wider scale as people take is as a day to celebrate with friends, and family members. Indeed love has a wide meaning other than a romantic one only...

Flowers and chocolates are still common gifts people choose to their Valentines. Especially the beautiful roses.

White rose. I like this colour of the rose the most!

These are not roses.. aren't they? I'm not really sure...

but no matter what one chooses to give to his/her valentine what really matter is the sincerity of the heart...

As for me I'm still valentine - less.. Stayed at home to mend my broken body due to exhaustion from playing squash.

I cried.. Yes indeed.. Not because I didn't have a valentine. Its because I watched CLANNAD ~After Story~ episode 18. That was the most touching scene in the whole animation series as Okazaki Tomoya and Okazaki Ushio we're trully reunited and Tomoya did not think his dad was useless and even vowed to protect and love Ushio as a great father. It was so touching till I cried...

The rest of the day I spent at my home...

Be Alert, Stay Alert.. Test 4 is over yet Mid Course test, (aka AS Level - Trials) is closing it...

Test 4 is finally over... yes finally relieved but yet AS Level - Trials is closing in.. I guess not much of rest before I need to get back into action...

Overall test 4 the first test of the 2nd semester was at mixed difficulty as different papers had different difficulties. To me... harder paper are Physics, Applied Math and Further Pure Maths, While the easier papers were Chemistry, Pure Maths, Further Applied Maths and General Paper tests.

Thursday, the day with Physics test was frustrating as I had some difficulties in answering the paper and always fighting against time to complete the paper. I'd expect mediocre results for mediocre performance.. Looks like I need more effort on this field too.

On the way back I sent Sam Yew and Kai Yunn back.. She wasn't feeling well at that time so I insisted on sending her home cuz I couldn't allow her to take public transport by herself in her condition.. I saw her quite in pain as she told us she was having migrane and abdominal discomfort. being a lady isn't easy at all...

Friday, the final day of Test 4 with only Pure Maths paper left was quite easy because Miss Chin gave us past year questions for us to do. Easy but I should not let my guard down for Trials exam also. We had replacement chemistry class which wasn't that bad after all as Mr Chau gave us much calculation questions about buffer solution pH and Solubility Product to practice.

Then later we played Squash this time with a larger group where Kai Qing, Suh Kuan, Shin Rou and Rueei Jia joined in this week so we booked 2 courts. Kai Yunn joined us at around 3.05pm as she had class till 3pm. We played till 4 pm and I exhausted myself. Without much rest we began our journey back home.. Suh Kuan and Sam followed my car as usual...

This time due to insufficient rest I felt very tired as I was driving.. so that affected my concentration level.. I definitely wasn't driving dangerously but I may not be able to react to dangerous situation effectively as my concentration is dampen by my exhaustion.. I felt bad because I and irresponsible for not taking enough rest first because I was sending 2 passenger in my car and it is my responsibility to ensure their safety.. Sorry Sam and Suh Kuan.. I'll not repeat that again... really sorry

Anyway we rested awhile in Sam's house to allow myself to regain strength. We chatted awhile about what we should do on Valentines day.. lol.. but we mostly made jokes about each other.. hehe.. Thanks Sam for allowing me to rest at your house and the cookies and drink you gave me.. I definitely appreciate it.. Thanks again Sam...

After recharge I send Suh Kuan home, fetch my lil bro from tuition and finally reached back home for my dinner and bathe and finally rest and sleep.. I was reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaalllllyyyyyyyyy tired!!!...

Further Pure Math Test 4 - Seems that I still need more workout!

People Learn from the past to prevent them from letting the past repeat itself. Then I really need to learn from my mistakes as not to repeat them again.

Today's normal with nothing out of schedule except for a small photography session for Science and Math society. and

Lunch at Melati Utama McDonalds. First time I ever drove out just to have lunch. It was quite fun also having a lunch at McD in the comfort of an air-conditioned environment BUT...

Definitely uncomfortable for my wallet. I can't afford this everyday!! hehe.

Further Pure Math was quite easy overall but I did my paper not as well as I expected. Maybe cuz my brains were out when the test was about to begin and got 2 questions wrong and hopefully get it right the next time. Nothing I can do now but to concentrate on my physics. The big test of tomorrow.

Test 4's here and started off with Chemistry today... Which was fairly okay. Questions were not very hard and most of them could be answered. 3 more tests to go with:-

Pure Math on Friday the 13th...

My friend jokingly told me that Friday the 13th is considered a bad day.. but I'm not that superstitious... LOL...

Gambatte to myself. Hopefully I can answer most of the test papers to come and now back to the books...
